| 100% New Zealand operated internationally affiliated; Armacup is a dedicated regional carrier of passenger cars, trucks and other wheeled units. It is our ambition to be the best in our specialised field of Ocean transportation, and by working closely with the Customer become the natural choice of partner for Ocean transportation of cars, trucks and other rolling equipment. Armacup will continue to maintain the capacity and resources required to achieve these goals.
Established in 1984 as an international freight forwarding company, Armacup soon diversified its business interests into specialised trades, and went on to become a significant player in the international car shipping scene. Trade grew rapidly, as did the international stature of this organisation.
In 1987, Armacup pioneered the Japanese used car shipping trade to New Zealand. Today - twenty years later - we can look back at a solid track record of service and commitment to the exporters and importers of cars to New Zealand.
In the early day's vehicles were shipped in containers or in general cargo vessels. Armacup commissioned the first dedicated car carrier vessel in the Japan/NZ trade in 1989. Larger and more modern vessels have been brought in over the years and in 1999 more versatile vessels were introduced offering increased capacity for passenger vehicles and more high deck capacity for trucks, buses and construction equipment.
Armacup vessels which are sourced from the WWL/EUKOR pool are able to carry cars and trucks. However, the vessels are also equipped to carry a variety of very high cargo, and Armacup is able to handle heavy machinery and construction equipment up to a unit weight of 120 tons. From New Zealand back to Japan the vessels carry timber products and wood fiber panels. Due to increasing demand for ships space we are always reviewing our vessels' size and capactity, and Armacup has the flexibility to introduce additional vessels to meet our customers' increased requirements.
New trade routes have been established in addition to New Zealand, including Korea, Ireland, England, Fiji, Australia and South America.
Armacup established its own office in Japan in 2000. Armacup Japan K.K is located in Tokyo and oversees all commercial and operational activities in that region.
As markets emerge now and in the future, Armacup will continue to embrace new challenges and inspire the development and growth in its business scope our clients expect. Such pursuits will ensure we continuously evolve and adapt in an ever-changing business climate.
Armacup was established as a New Zealand owned company and continues to this very day to be 100 percent New Zealand operated. |
